31 Days to Prepare for Baby

Baby Kai will be here before we know it!
I have 15 weeks left in my pregnancy, at this point with the Big One we had everything ready to go!
I have been searching for the motivation to finally get started when I came across the 31 day challenge from The Nesting Place.

Join me as I prepare for baby during the month of October!

This collage includes the furniture that we have, as well as some inspiration for the room.
I'm going to rest up,
Day 1 is tomorrow!

***This post will be updated continuously throughout the 31 days with the link from each day!***

Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin patch pictures from today!
Husband the Pumpkin King greeting people as they pull in.  Yikes.

They missed me so much!

Giddy up!

Husband:  Why don't you get a really big pumpkin?
Laithe:  I only want a LITTLE ONE!

Hold these while I run away.

They have baby chicks to hold.  Whoever thought it was a good idea to hand a two year old a baby anything obviously doesn't know about their HULK like strength!

Husband: He's going to break this chick's neck!
(note the terror in the chick's eyes)

No worries, all survived the pumpkin patch.

Now to finish up some school work and write out our schedule for the week!
Looking forward to the 31 day challenge of getting ready for the little one.
I'm thinking we need to make caramel pretzel crunch brownies to help us focus.

Also, if you have 2 seconds, please stop by
and vote for me, #51-Superhero Masks
I will thank you with brownies.

People of the Garage Sale

We had our long talked about garage sale today.
We've been accumulating for the last year,
but always find an excuse to not follow through.

We were definitely spoiled by Texas,
our last garage sale there we made over a thousand dollars!
Today we made an unbelievable $26 after we deducting the money for signs, stickers, and tables.

However...we got to see some real gems today,
including the woman who walked around our garage with a cigarette in her hand.
You know when you become a mom...who's maybe almost 30....and you look in your closet and see tube tops or spaghetti straps and think
"Self, maybe you are getting a little too old for these clothes, it's time to say goodbye"
I said goodbye to those clothes
and a woman who was my mom's age said hello to them. Eeek.

Anyway, the goal was to clean out the garage and get rid of junk.
Once Salvation Army comes to pick up the rest next week,
our garage will officially be junk free!

The before shots from yesterday:

Here's the before w/garage sale prep:

So much clothing!

My prep including hanging or folding and placing my clothes on tables.
The husbands prep was opening two foot lockers...

Mom, do I seriously have to be up this early?
At least he's a good salesman:

The after

The Big One trying out the Sit & Stand

Definitely that last garage sale I will ever ever have!

Assault at the Zoo, Pumpkin Painting, and Garage Sale Prep

We woke up this morning and headed out to the zoo!
The whole way the Big One said, "I'm not going to get sick today!"
And he didn't, so all was good in the world.

We went to buy our tickets and
it was FREE day!

Our first stop was to feed the coy.

Then to feed the goats.'s that kind of zoo.
Pigs, chickens, horses, we're not fancy around here.

This is the point that some lady pushed the Big One out of the way with HER KID just as I was taking a picture.
Yep, the picture shows it all.
I was going to post it here, but I figured I would be the bigger person...and I maybe already posted it on my personal Facebook page,
so hopefully someone will kick her.
If we ever see them again, it's ON.

We went by a little farmer's market when we left
and picked up some pumpkins to paint.

Laithe kept trying to give the lady the 30 cents he had,
she kept giving him gourds and his money back,
so he walked away with quite a haul.

He picked out 4 to paint and got to work.

While I worked on this frightening garage...

Can you see Annie?  She's still lost in there somewhere.

We're having a garage sale tomorrow, so most of it is already straightened up.
Thanks to the husband for leaving his motorcycle right in the middle,
it made it SUPER easy to move things around.

Beautiful painted pumpkins.

Wish us luck at our garage sale tomorrow!
Have a great weekend!
On Monday, I will start a 31 day challenge preparing for the baby!

Superheroes Don't Get Carsick

The Big One gets carsick.
Not everyday and not every long trip,
but on occasion-
in the morning,
when we're going somewhere really fun,
and he's super excited...
he gets sick
and we have to go home.

Today we were ALMOST to the zoo.
Less than a mile.
He was heartbroken and cried the whole way home.
So, we're going to the zoo tomorrow instead.

I felt really bad for him,
so while he was watching a little tv & relaxing on the couch,
I decided to make him a surprise.

Superhero Mask

I googled "Superhero Mask Template" and was directed to first palette printables.
The templates were exactly what I was looking for,
extremely simple!
I printed out two different templates and then got the following materials:

fabric (ended up using about 12x10)
fusible interfacing
elastic (I had 1/4 inch on hand, but I actually ended up cutting it in half)
straight pins

*Yeah...that's stitch witchery in the photo. Why? Who the hell knows, but you don't need it*

Cut out a square of fabric and fusible interfacing (large enough for the mask template).
Iron the fusible interfacing and fabric together.
*I only used the fusible interfacing to make the mask a little bit stiffer, it really isn't necessary if you want to be a slacker*  :)

Pin your mask template to the fabric/fusible interfacing.
*Or use a fabric pencil..which I couldn't find...ANYWHERE*

Then cut out mask & hole punch for elastic space.

Go wrap elastic around your kids head while they watch tv.
"What are you doing? Go away from me!"

Tie desired amount of elastic onto mask.

I made him put on his Batman pajamas before I would give him his surprise.  There is a cape on the back and he insists on wearing them out places.

"What's my surprise? I don't want to lay down!!!!"

Here's your mask, punk.

Since he loved that one so much and ran around the house screaming "I am really Batman!" I decided to make the other template I printed also.

Exact same process.

This one is by far the favorite!

Total cost, $0.
I seriously had all that junk on hand.

Here's hoping Superheroes don't get carsick!

I have a secret...

My house is clean and appears organized.
I have a secret.
I am not always great with behind the scenes organization,
like closets.

Today we decided to tackle Laithe's closet.
There were a lot of things in there that will be going into the baby's room.
Also, a lot of clothing that needed to be packed away, sold, or donated.

The scary before...

See what I mean?  Out of control.

Getting help from the Big One.  His response to everything was "keep it!"
What a good hoarder helper!

It was insane the amount of stuff that went straight to the donate pile.
It only took us about 30 minutes to clean out and take everything down to the garage with the rest of our items to get rid of!

Look mom!  I fit in here!

This is my mickey mouse clubhouse!

Can I go up there?

He's still in there, on the right. He's hiding.

Now we're going to make some apple cinnamon twists
and tackle my closet...

Rise and Dine!

On Sundays, I make breakfast for Monday through Friday.
I like being able to make the husband a hot breakfast every morning,
but I do not like getting up early.  Don't judge.

One of his favorite things is
"egg muffins."
I only have to cook once and he can have a hot breakfast everyday before work...
(without waking me up)

Egg Muffins

You will need:

12 eggs
12 pieces of turkey bacon (or regular bacon, what am I? Your mother?)
1 cup of swiss cheese (or cheddar if you prefer)
non-stick cooking spray
muffin pan

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Whisk eggs together in a large bowl.
Spray muffin pan with a thick coat of non-stick cooking spray.
*If I have dirty dishes in the dishwasher, I will spray my pan there.  That way I never have to clean that junk off the counter or stovetop!!*
Sure, it looks weird...but it works!

Cook turkey bacon according to directions.
Cut up one slice in each place.

Pour eggs over the top of bacon, filling each spot 3/4 full.

Add cheese over the top

Throw in your preheated oven and eat leftover bacon for the next 14-16 minutes.
Once a toothpick comes out clean, you are good to go.

Let them cool for about 5 minutes.  Then, use a spoon to scoop it out and place in individually portioned bags.  The husband eats 2 for breakfast.

Heat 45-60 seconds in microwave on plate or paper towel.
They will keep in the refrigerator for a week.

They are also great for a snack!
